As a SuperMom, you wear a lot of hats.
(And let’s be honest, sometimes a lot of questionable stains on your clothes.)
Trust me, I feel you.
Hi! I’m Carolyn, Founder of SuperMom.
After over a decade leading and managing successful companies, I made the life-changing decision to start a family. But after my first daughter was born, the question I found myself asking was:
Where do I go from here?
Like so many women in transition, my dream was to create a fulfilling career that would still allow me to be the mom I wanted to be—present, nurturing, and available to check for monsters under the bed on a moment’s notice.
So I started a part-time business that would let me work from home, thinking it would be the perfect way to pay the bills, follow my purpose with integrity, and still have lots of time to spend with my family.
What I wasn’t prepared for though was my daughter’s nine-month colic spell.
Want to talk about what a real balancing act looks like? I spent days holding her in one arm while typing on my computer with the other, bouncing up and down on an exercise ball because the movement was the only thing that gave her any relief. (Which turned out to be awesome for my butt, but not so much for my productivity.)
I also never imagined I’d become chained to my business—to what was supposed to be my ticket to freedom—and eventually find myself in a hospital bed.
That’s when I finally realized I needed help. So in my haze of sleep deprivation, postpartum depression and feelings of failure, I looked up groups designed for moms and sent out emails with pleas for support.
And you know what? Not a single person responded.
I felt utterly alone and like no one understood what I was going through.
Despite having a wonderful hubby, sister and circle of friends—deep down, I knew they didn’t really get it. How could they? Entrepreneurial moms are a unique bunch with their own set of obstacles.
Even at my worst, I wasn’t willing to give up on my business. But I also knew I couldn’t keep living the way I was. So I began searching for something—anything—that would help me manage my time and energy, without drowning in overwhelm.
And when I couldn’t find it, I created SuperMom Entrepreneur.
SuperMom is for every woman who has been…
- Carrying a dream within her to start her own business from home, so she can spend more time with her kids
- Has just started a business and isn’t sure how to grow or sustain it while managing all her mom and family responsibilities
- Or already has a successful business, and is worried that starting a family will somehow diminish her professional value or force her to put her business on the backburner
I want you to know: You CAN have it all. And it isn’t as hard as you think.
I’m a firm believer that we can be all-star moms, full of zest and passion, and kick butt in our careers—all at the same time. But it does require us to keep our hearts open to the support of other women who are walking in our same shoes, every single day.
I’m committed to becoming a catalyst for women just like you, who are ready to cultivate meaningful relationships that will help us sustain one another and our businesses for the long haul.
So the next time you find yourself wide-eyed at 3 am, asking yourself like I did years ago:
Where do I go from here?
You know you have a place to start. And this time, you’re not alone.
To making it happen,
